Rosette Nebula, 20 subframes

Astro images taken with Canon 40D, 200mm F/2.8 lens, ISO 800, 2 minute exposures at F/4.  Tripod mounted Astrotrac.  Combined using DeepSkyStacker, very minimal & crude post processing with Adobe Photoshop CS2.

Terrestrial images taken with Canon 40D, 10-22mm wide angle lens, tripod & remote switch.

M101 - I was all prepared and my laptop died.  I switched over to the remote switch and set up for 20 subframes.  Something happened between that night in the field and my home office, because I could only find 6 subexposures.  Perhaps my camera battery died or I accidentally removed the other images.  In any case, I was very happy with the results given only 6 exposures.  Nearby galaxies are identified in red.

I was asked for the uncropped version of the Rosette Nebula.  It is here.  Please be aware that when I cropped the image for the above photo, I processed the cropped version.  I had to reprocess the uncropped version so it will not match the above version, and it is of poorer quality because I didn't take the time to do it as well.
