Notable Deep Sky Objects

M13 - Globular Cluster Class IV, m5.7, 21,000 light years away, absolute mag -8.7, luminosity of 1/4 million suns, 140 light year diameter, several hundred thousand stars.  The finest globular cluster in the northern hemisphere.

M92 - Globular Cluster Class IV, m6.4, 25,000 light years away, absolute mag -8.1, luminosity of 150,000 suns (60% of M13), 80 light year diameter.  This is an exceptionally old cluster in that its stars are poor in iron and therefore formed before the gas & dust of the Milky Way were enriched with heavy elements.
